Why Learning Guitar Feels so Hard
Feeling Overwhelmed
Too many options—but no clear direction—make it hard to know where to start or where to go next.
Forming Bad Habits
Starting without proper technique creates long-term roadblocks and leads to frustration.
YouTube Burnout
Random tutorials aren’t tailored to your needs, leaving gaps in your skills and hindering your progress.
Learning Alone
No structured plan, no expert guidance, and no fresh ideas to keep you inspired—it’s easy to stall.

Meet Your Guitar Instructor
Hi, I’m Francois Wiss.
I’ve been playing guitar for over 40 years, and for the past 25 years, I’ve shared my passion as both an educator and a performing musician. I’ve taught hundreds of students at all levels, and I regularly perform at some of the most iconic clubs in NYC.
But here’s the truth: even with decades of experience, I still get stuck sometimes—whether it’s tackling new material or fine-tuning a project. When that happens, I turn to mentors, colleagues, and teachers, because learning is a lifelong journey, and even the most experienced players need a helping hand.
Learning guitar is incredibly rewarding, but it isn’t always easy.
I get it—and I’m here to help.

Testimonials
“My daughter was a complete beginner and had a so-so experience with piano in the past. When she said she wanted to learn guitar, we were a bit hesitant, but we got so lucky to find Francois! He’s been incredibly dedicated and makes learning so much fun for her. She absolutely loves her weekly group class and is always excited to play.”

“I’d been struggling to learn on my own for years and felt so frustrated. Francois has this amazing way of pointing out the skills I already had while helping me fill in the gaps. For the first time, I actually feel like I’m making real progress.”
Greg H.
“I’ve completed two of the 5-week programs—’Flamenco-1′ and ‘Soloing-1’—and I’m having so much fun jamming now. I’ve become the most advanced player among my friends, and now they’re asking ME to teach them! Lol.”

FAQ
Absolutely! I teach all skill levels—from complete beginners who have never picked up a guitar to advanced players looking to refine their technique or explore new styles. Whether you’re starting from scratch, getting back into playing, or aiming to take your skills to the next level, I tailor lessons to fit your needs. And honestly, teaching every level is fun for me too! It’s always exciting to see students grow, build confidence, and enjoy the process.
Yes, I love teaching children! My lessons are designed to be engaging and fun, helping kids build skills while staying motivated. As a matter of fact, I worked exclusively with children for almost a decade—and I have one of my own! For younger students, I often recommend group lessons, as they offer a social and supportive environment. Of course, one-on-one lessons are also available for kids who prefer a more personalized approach.
Not at all! Many of my students are adults who are picking up the guitar for the first time or returning to it after years away. It’s never too late to start—my lessons are designed to make learning easy and enjoyable, no matter your age or experience level.
Absolutely! I offer flexible scheduling to accommodate even the busiest lifestyles. Whether you need evening classes, weekend sessions, or a customized schedule, we can find a time that works for you. Let’s make guitar lessons fit into your life!
Not at all! You don’t need to know how to read music to start learning guitar. I use practical tools like tabs, chord charts, audio, video, and other beginner-friendly methods to help you focus on playing and having fun. If you’d like to learn to read music later on, we can include that too!
Ultimately, it’s up to you, but most students notice improvement within just a few lessons, especially with regular practice. Whether it’s mastering basic chords, playing a simple song, or refining a specific skill, my structured approach ensures you progress quickly and stay motivated.
